100 Years of History

A global producer of dyes and chemistry for anodized aluminum for nearly 70 years.

1886Sandoz Ltd. was established in Basel, Switzerland.
1949First experiments coloring anodized aluminum were conducted in the Dyes Division of Sandoz Ltd. This was later transferred to Durand & Huguenin who became the market leader.
1969Sandoz reacquired Durand & Huguenin and the worldwide aluminum dye business.
1995Clariant was formed from the chemicals group of Sandoz Ltd.
1997Clariant acquired the specialty chemicals business of Hoechst (Germany).
2008Clariant and Reliant established a strategic alliance to serve anodizers throughout North America.
